The biggest question I have right now? Will fans be saying “Thank you” following tonight’s series finale?
Chances of the answer being, “Yes?” Very slim.
Oh, well, here we are at the last episode. I’m a little sad and happy all rolled up into one. I’m sad b/c the show I loved so much and the characters I love won’t be back next year. I’m happy that they won’t continue to be dragged through crazy, incongruous plotting.
I’m prepared for disappointment.
So that’s tonight’s drinking game: whenever I’m disappointed by something. I’m hoping to stay sober. I really am. But I’m betting I’ll be staggering by the end of the night.
The episode synopsis:
Sookie weighs a future with and without Bill. Eric and Pam embark on a new enterprise, while Sarah faces the consequences of her actions. Sam embraces his new life; Andy comes upon an unexpected inheritance.
Item one: If she still needs to “weigh” this–after he’s planning to “die a martyr” and leave her with the guilt–she truly hasn’t progressed as a character.
Item two: Good for Eric and Pam! My shipper heart wants them to rescue Sookie from the Yakuza and herself, but I think that–if the endgame is, indeed, Bill–which is almost certainly is, then Pam and Eric just need to get the hell out of Louisiana. Onto greener pastures!
Item three: Please tell me that Eric gets to kill her–finally. Or will Pam turn her? Hmmm….
Item four: Let’s hope that Sam’s embracing of the new life means he stays away from Bon Temps. (And no Butt shots from him! Not even for old time’s sake.)
Item five: Good for Andy.
In honor of this being the last episode, I’m going to share some of my favorite “funny” pics from the show. We need a laugh.
And now, for some fun: A True Blood worst wig contest!
Have fun! See you tonight!

The fact tvtags sticker for tonight is Bill and we’ve had zero Eric or Pam for this season leaves me zero hope for an ending that doesn’t involve me throwing heavy objects at the television. Sigh

I doubt most fans will be saying thank-you after the episode. Most will most likely be shaking their heads and trying not to throw things at their television because of the ridiculousness that will most likely occur.

“Thank you……for wasting 7 years of our lives” perhaps?
I’ve been indulging in memories on Tumblr… All pre season 6 of course bar the iconic Sookie staking Behl scene how it ended up Behl/Sookie endgame baffles me still. It feels like such a long wake and funeral!
Again , I shall be waiting until tomorrow morning to watch the last episode ever in which I expect excess A”y Luvh yew Sookeh, yew arrh mah miracul” blah blah blah which means I will be watching on an empty stomach.. I’m just hoping Eric gets a decent send off but I am not holding my breath.
it’s been fun doing these episode discussions though and I will certainely miss the laughs I had over some of the comments.
Loved the wig recaps. I voted for Alcides’ Treehouse of Horror Homer Simpson wig where he gets a hair transplant that possesses him and then tries to murder him.

Well, I do have one thank you to True Blood. Thank-you for is casting Alexander Skarsgard as Eric Northman.
They are having a marathon today that started at 3 hours ago showing all the episodes up until the finale. I’ve had it on listening/watching to it since it started. I figured I would get started remembering how bad this season sucked before seeing the end. At this moment, they are getting ready to run Sylvie through with a sword. I decided to play one of the games throughout the day, with only light drinking, using the “stab Sookie in the eye with a pencil” but now that I see the photos above, I’m thinking maybe it should be every time I see someone with bad hair. LOL

This wig gotta write in vote. I didn’t originally include it because I will admit to my heart stopping (and panties melting) when I saw him walking out to that cheesy song. But it does deserve a mention.

In case you haven’t seen this priceless bit…
A recent Moyer interview:
“One of the things that Anna and I said — we had dinner with Bucky [showrunner Brian Buckner] a year ago, before we had started filming, when they were just conceiving of this year, and quite frankly sat down with him and said, “We do not in any way need you guys to try to tie up the Bill-Sookie love knot. If you don’t feel like that’s part of the show, we absolutely don’t need for it to be that.” I had said, “If you want that, we both do. If you see the show as Alcide [Joe Manganiello] and Sookie, that would be totally cool by us. If you see it as Eric [Alexander Skarsgard] and Sookie, that would be absolutely cool.”
Um, yeah. Sigh. The whole “we do not need…” sentence rubbed me the wrong way. And cements my hunch Anna and Stephen have waaaaaaayy more say so in TB the ANY actor/actress should or usually do. And ‘Bucky’ listens.
Full (load of horseshit) story here:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/true-blood-finale-stephen-moyer-727208?mobile_redirect=false
In a related bit of more horseshit – Amazons Kindle Deal of the Day “features” the first 5 Sookie Stackhouse books with price dropped to 1.99each. Guess Ms. Harris & publishers felt the need to try and cash in -again- on fans “emotional attachment” to TB’s finale/finally.
I’m sticking to my prediction Sookie wakes up, it was all a dream, rolls over, hubby in bed with her is Sam. :-0

It’s so hard to judge. Some of the comments / quotes I have read from interviews and articles about this last season have been conflicting or misleading. We were lead to believe that the whole Alcide / Bill / Sookie triangle would be the focus of this final season but it lasted all of three seconds. The resolution of an ‘old triangle’ was coming across as being Eric / Sookie / Bill but it turns out to have been Jess / Jason / Hoyt and that wasn’t even much of a triangle. The things I have heard about this finale have ranged from CH making an appearance as a ‘director’. An Eric look-a-like being cast as a ‘lead actress’ husband’. It’s going to be ‘bloody’. It’s going to be a dream / made up / CH telling her publishers about her idea and them loving / hating it. Etc etc etc. The ONE thing that hasn’t been tossed around is that it ends with our much wanted HEA for E / S. So could it be this is the ending we will get? And if we do, will it just feel like a cheap pay off, much like the full frontal of our beloved Viking last season? I haven’t even watched passed the first 2-3 eps of season 5 but I know from spoilers and clips that the writers have done everything to lead us away from what the majority wanted. If they give it to us now, I’m not sure I want it anymore. I hate Sookie now, at least book / show Sookie. Fanfic Sookie, who I discovered at the same time as TB, is the Sookie I love so I can say thank-you to all the fanfic writers for her at least. CH and the TB writers can all go swimming with piranha.

I think Sookie’s light will heal Bill instead, maybe bring him his lost humaunatae…making him human. With the added bonus she used up her big ball of fairy so now she’s the boring normal human she always wished she was. Probably why the ep is so boring…foreshadowing. Boring is the New Black.

You know what, even if I don’t get the ending I want, Bill being dead is kind of worth everything. Though he should have died three seasons ago. I think this must have been a nod to the original ending CH wanted for the Bill character….until AB begged like a fanboy for her to have him live.

Same as Harris’ ending – Sookie living a false life. She isn’t human, humans don’t read minds or throw light balls, but Sookie excelled at avoidance so…

But see, I think that kind of goes along with how they’ve portrayed Sookie all along – like a ‘loose end’/extraneous scenery around Bill and HIS story. Bill got his big over played death scene…and Sookie got the equivalent of an Honorable Mention — because they had to do *something* with her 😉

I’ve loved that song since the very first time I heard the Led Zeppelin II album. I wanted it played at my first wedding, but we did the fast thing. Divorced fast too. Thank God! It would have been tacky to have then done it at the second one! I didn’t remarry for over 20 years & the song was so much more appropriate this time. Who would have thought 40 years ago that a LZ song would ever become a wedding song? LOL! It’s perfect though!

Right?!! My husband picked it for our wedding 11 years ago. Led Zeppelin music has been part of my life since I was a kid in the mid-late 70s. It’s timeless!! BTW, Tori Amos did a nice piano-y version years ago, too. 🙂

My husband & I are Zeppelin fans from way back when too; albums to 8-tracks (really showing my age) for the car, then tapes, CD’s, flash drives; now albums are back! Glad we kept our favorites! LOL! My kids would get so mad at me when I’d blast LZ in the car! Now they listen to them too. Though I never had the pleasure of seeing them live, I did get to see Robert Plant & Jimmy Page together in the late 90’s. It. Was. Excellent. 🙂

And not even a tvtag Eric ‘sticker’ this whole season. Or Pam. Not one. Laffy, Alcide, Tara many Sookies, a Sookie and Bill and two Bill but NO ERIC! Like WTF?!?! Last year we got a whole countdown to final ep collection of Eric. Not even a bonus Eric and Pam? Tvtag suck since they got rid of physical stickers.

So…it starts AWESOME (with Eric and Pam, Of course) and the what? The bottom falls out?!
Are we SUPPOSED to buy Jess and HOYT? That he comes back and within 24 friggin’ hours he –having only memories that were TOLD to him — is marrying Jess with Jason as his BFF?
That makes more sense than Jason — who they were building towards for the last couple seasons???
GAH!!!!

If I didn’t have you wonderful people to give me the spoilers, I would have already nodded off…
But my giddiness at waiting for Bill to die is what’s keeping me going.
Oh look, Sookie is now the girl in the black dress……

yeah, i didn’t understand why she got so dressed up, but I guess to her she was attending a funeral. I did picture for just a minute when she broke the shovel that she was just gonna throw it like a javelin at him from outside the grave.

I’m so glad Sookie finally killed Bill. Put him out if our misery! But what I do t get is if James and LaLa were at the Thanksgiving dinner, and I’m assuming Hoyt and Jessica, then Sookie hasn’t gotten away from vampires anyway. They’re a part of her group of friends. So what would have been so bad about being with Eric? She loved him. He loved her. Obviously she wanted that whole baby-daddy thing. Oh well, at least Bills dead and Eric is rich and carrying on his businesses.

They threw in that old scene from season 3 with yvetta dancing. Like the viewers wouldn’t notice. That scene made me feel as if he went back to his old ways. Sad. Eric deserves e d better. Other than that the episode belonged to Eric and Pam.

I’m so sorry I missed you all during the episode. My mom called me about half an hour before and needed to talk to me about my granddad, who’s been in and out of a nursing home. He’s not doing well, and my mom’s depressed. So I’ll ask that you send good thoughts to her.
I just got done watching the episode and all I have to say is that I was…….bored for most of it. And that just made me sad.
I’m glad Sookie didn’t end up with Bill, but this whole season was just BAD b/c it was Bill-centric. It all came down to HIS story, and that was just not that interesting.
Once again, Eric saved her life–but she doesn’t even know it.
I celebrated Bill being turned to goo, but the “heroic” ending? Really? Just waif for sun-up, Bill.
And Sookie with anonymous at the end? Sigh. Whatever.
Thank goodness for fanfiction.
These characters deserved better. Hell–even Bill deserved a different death–preferably violent.
Sigh.
I’m just sad.
Again, sorry I wasn’t here with you all! I’m stone cold sober. Sigh. And that means it’s even worse.

Even though I feel just plain let down and sad, there’s a small part of me that’s excited to see what you (Kat) come up with to replace this travesty. I just can’t believe it basically ends up with Eric right back where we first saw him…doing almost exactly the same thing. But looking sadder doing it.

I am so disappointed with this season. I have faithfully watched Trueblood since day 1; even through seasons 5&6 which weren’t great (I’m being nice). This last episode was so boring. After the first 15minutes, I turned to CNN, turned back and they were still on Jessica and Hoyt. When did this become the Jessica/ Hoyt luv story? Left a bad taste in my mouth. I feel as if I was spoon Fed shit. I want my 1 hour 10 minutes back.
Sorry to birch but I a m pissed

I would’ve liked to see Eric and Pam move on to bigger and better things, living somewhere else and working on their new corporation. However I’d like to think Eric isn’t bored and unhappy in this scene. He is supposed to look bored by the humans, it’s part of his act and always has been. I’m hoping that here he has New Blood to keep him plenty busy in the business world… he no longer has anyone holding any type of authority over his head (which was the one thing he has always hated), and he still has Pam at his side.
So all in all, I would like to think Eric got himself a fairly happy ending in the tv show universe.

What was the point of the entire fucking show? With the introduction of New Blood and Eric sitting on his throne, it feels just like how the show started with no progress. After having 7 seasons focused on Sookie and her happiness/relationships and what do we have to show for it? A faceless man and a generic “happy Thanksgiving scene”. Really, what was the point of this entire show?
The first 5 minutes of this episode were entertaining (Eric jamming out in the car all bloodied up was FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC! we need a gif of it right now!) and the rest either had me bored to tears or utterly disgusted at how my time was wasted. Horrible ending. I think the only remedy for this episode is stiff drink and a healthy dose of fanfic (preferably with hot, steamy S/E sex and a violent ending for Bill).
Cheers,
~~sharky
P.S. I am so happy my other show (Avatar: The Legend of Korra) had a fantastic season finale. But alas, not all shows are immune to money grubbing producers.

Show should have been called “Fuck You” instead of “Thank You” because that pretty much sums up how I felt watching the creators needlessly kill these beloved characters.
How can that actually happen twice? (CH and TB??)

Wow, they outdone Charlaine Harris for endings with the exception of Behl finally dying (YESSSSS!)
Behl remained selfish through to the end. I do not understand why he could not have just met the sun or asked Jess to stake him. It was incredibly selfish of him to ask Sookie and for someone who claims to love her so much he was incredibly emotional abusive to her. His death scene was 10 minutes too long and I was like Skip to the end. The positive from it was that Sookie finally CHOSE herself and I was glad she didn’t use her faeball thing.
Which brings me onto random bearded husband/partner in the timejump..Unless she has suddenly learned to block all minds would she not constantly hear his thoughts? Sookie has ended up in the same place as her novel counterpart except with a randomer and not Sam. She’s probably just as bigoted towards vampires as her too now. I wish she had left Bon Temps. i would have loved a shot of her travelling and maybe returning to Bon Temps after it. That would have been a better ending.
Jason wasted no time with Bridgette? Lol.
Pam and Eric hawking New Blood – hilarious but like others have said I hated that Sarah Newlin was being pimped put in the basement. As horrible as her character was it was extremely cruel of them to have her end up like that. Pam being a former madame herself I just found it disturbing that they had Eric and Pam pimp her out like that and felt like they were trying to make them the big bad at the end/
To sum it up – it was an incredibly boring series finale. Nowhere near Dexter levels but they pulled a bit of a HIMYM by having a switcharoo with love interest at the end except we’ve never met him previously.
Also Lol at Erics’ awful headbopping to techno in the car and 😦 that Sookie never found out that Eric saved her life yet again.

I’m still needing a little writing therapy to help me “unsee” the final episode. I just can’t get over the selfishness of Bill in their relationship. He “pronounced” that vampires were bad for Sookie, but he was the worse. To “guilt” her into using her light to euthanize him. That choice should have always been Sookie’s—not Bill’s. To even suggest it shows how much Bill never supported or loved who Sookie really was. He always acted like he knew best for her, and he just didn’t.
When I finally got to watch last night, I just kept thinking, “Why doesn’t he just walk out into the sun? Why is he making Sookie do this? TIIC tried to give us a proclamation about “mercy killing,” but they failed to give Sookie any mercy at all. By accepting “Bill’s” dreamed up version of her life, Sookie ends up with a life that seems “lesser.” She clearly found a way to keep relationships with “tamed” vampires in her small, tamed life. Well—she got her “normal.” I just keep thinking of S4 when Eric says there are two Sookie Stackhouses. We are supposed to think from this episode that she embraced the second by not giving up her light.
Most head-scratching moment? When Jessica and Hoyt were getting married (forced much?), Bill thought about how he wanted Sookie to have that kind of thing. How does that make any sense? Jessica is a vampire. She and Hoyt cannot have children—unless they adopt. It’s not logical for Bill to want that for her. And—lest we forget—what he wants is a relationship now built on forgetting, and on “re-learning” what was forgotten through rose-colored glasses. Sigh. Just not satisfactory.
I couldn’t even enjoy Bill’s death b/c he manipulated Sookie into doing it through guilt–just like he’s been manipulating her all along. And then she embraces exactly what HE wanted.
We never really learned what Sookie wanted–beyond a version of “normalcy” that she goes beyond the second she decides to keep her light. And then she turns her back on that decision to embrace herself and goes right back to what Bill wanted for her? It doesn’t make sense to me.
I hope Godric is slapping Bill repeatedly in the vampire afterlife.

Yeah, and speaking of Godric was I the only one who wished they’d bring him back. I mean they can resurrect Behl the terrible, but they had to have Lilith kill Godric and end his spectral visitations.

And another thing…are we to believe that Eric’s life is completely “cool” now? This he has dominion over it? I’m sorry, but they told us nothing about how the vampire hierarchy “reset” itself. Is there a new king/queen in Louisiana? If not, who’s in charge–Eric? Did he want to do that? Or is it a vampire free-for-all? Just one more thing that was unsatisfactorily NOT tied up at the end.

Thank you! I kept wondering who the hell was King or Queen? I ultimately found the TB ending more satisfying than the CH ending, because at least I could watch TB. I bought the last two books because I’m a completionist freak but I still haven’t read them.
Loved badass Eric and Pam and I do wish they could have featured Lala more. Not sure what they could have given him to do, other than wedge him into the wedding sham. I wasn’t satisfied with the flash forward to Fangtasia, though, because it was so incomplete. I assume fanfic will fill in those blanks for me so Eric isn’t so damn sad. And as humorous as I found the New Blood, couldn’t he have just been badass instead of Shamwow ridiculous? And for the love, STAND UP STRAIGHT. Ugh. Pam was pretty, though.

Good point about the vampire hierarchy being in shambles. But when they had the vampires up all dat at will, canon was out the window. This season was so screwed.
In my fantasy, Sookie, died in childbirth, has a daughter who walks into a bar run by a handsome tall glass of vampire yumminess. One can hope….. Sigh …..

It ended better than I thought i would – I’ll give them that. It would have been better is less time was spent on the stupid, impromptu, nonsensical wedding and more time was spent on what happened afterwards to explain some things. For most of the past seasons, the vampire hierarchy and Bon Temps area were kinda decimated. Would have been nice to know how that all got better.

Well I just watched the finale, what a crock go hubris! I floved the Eric and Pam scenes, the rest, not so much. Just not feeling Hoyt and Jessica. No Lala was just tragic. I really didn’t mind the end of Vampire Bill but that took way too long.
Sookie does not deserve Eric and I was so glad he was able to turn the page and move forward. Sarah Newlin was a stitch. Can’t believe she asked Pam to turn her! Goodness gracious!
