Assholes. I often just delete. They are often that witch hunt group. Sorry you got one!

Oh–I delete too. But sometimes I just wish that I could reach out of their keyboards and bitch slap them. I understand if they do not like my writing and I’m fine with people expressing an issue with continuity, etc., but–seriously–sometimes I wonder why people even write comments if they are just going to be negative.
If you don’t like the FREE story, stop reading the FREE story.

They should put their names on the reviews. And then write a story. And then I’ll read it and tell them what I think! GEEZ. Sorry–as you know–it’s sometimes just frustrating.

Oh yeah I know! And I often get angry at their childishness, petty ways and wish to go one on one with them. Then I remind myself that because of those same reasons, I’m better than them. I’m not scared to put myself out there. I’m not scared to allow people into my mind to enjoy the stories I think up.

But I will admit, I’ve read some bad stories. I’m bad about leaving reviews, though I am trying to get better. But yes, I have read something so bad that I just got out of it and moved to something more.

Saying all that sounds mean, but I live by a golden rule taught to me for every negative thing you say, you have to balance it with two good things. And I’ve offered advice to those with great ideas, and the will to gift us with them, just not the know how. I suck at betaing, but I can and have taught others how to flow their words to make the story better to the point the audience is sooo caught up in the story, the little things slide by.

In short, I hate the guest reviews, and turned them off. But I remind myself to not get to their level. And I’m an evil little bitch, so continuing to write is my way of sticking my thumbs in my ears, crossing my eyes while I stick my tongue out at them saying, “nanny nanny boo boo, sticks and stones can break my bones, but words aren’t going to stop me!” And blow them a raspberry.

    Hey! I’m only human!

Oh wise one, how do you turn off the guest reviews. I have looked everywhere and cannot find the magic button.

I have found a few stories that I couldn’t stomach either. There is one pretty popular writer on ff.net that I have tried multiple times, but every time, I just shake my head. And I see that she has a lot of positive reviews. And you know what I think? “GOOD FOR HER!”

Maybe she’s not my cup of tea (I like mine with brandy, after all). But I have never, never thought about signing out just so that I could respond as a guest and say something nasty to her. I just sigh and tell myself that I’ll try another of her stories again sometime–because I always enjoy the premises. And then I move the fuck on!

    Call me rational.

    Yep!

And no, they took it from us. It’s too encourage non members to be able to leave reviews. Personally I think it is allowing them to have their favorite group more leeway to get those stories that aren’t appropriate for their teenagers and lower to get off the site.

However. I marked my WordPress site Mature, and if they are good little parents, their precious children can’t read it. If they are not, well I have a content warning and so on. their faults.

Seriously, these people need to get a life. I remember reading Carrie when I like 13 and freaking out on it. My parents had warned me, but I thought I was mature enough for it. I have NEVER touched that story again.

See that is what makes me so angry. WHY are their teenagers reading mature content, it’s no ones job but them to police what their child reads. As a mother, I KNOW what my kids are reading, I know what internet sites they are on and I take responsibility if they see something they aren’t supposed to because THAT is my job as a parent. The groups on FFn that are going insane with getting things they don’t like off are hypocrites and bad parents. Maybe they should spend more time parenting instead of reading things they supposedly disapprove of. They are trying to suppress free speech and encouraging a form of book burning. For myself I thought we were well past this sort of nonsense.

Guest reviewers strike again. I hate the snivelling little cowardly shits. Some of them are not happy unless they’re complaining. If they feel that strongly about something they should put their names to it. I’ve given up on ff. net. It’s not worth the hassle anymore.

Just remember, you’re awesome and they (the annoying ones) suck and couldn’t write a story even if they copied it word by word.

No–you are awesome! Just so you know–I nominated some of your stuff for the TB/SVM awards, and I intend to vote for you too————unless it is pitted against my stuff. LOL. Then, I’ll have to think about it. Seriously, thanks for the support. I’m so glad to “hear” from you. I hope your world is well and your Internet connection is strong. 🙂

You’re too kind. I’ve been reading your stuff, love it by the way. I’m doing okay. I had a rough few months. I’ve just started writing a new story and it’s going really well. I should start posting some time next month all going well.

It’s called Behind the Public Masks and it’s a part of a series. What’s it about? Now that’s tricky. Let’s just say Sookie is a partner in a supernatural event planning business, a rival to EEE, and is a total badass.

First, I tell them they don’t have to read the story (this is typically after 10 chapters), they’re cowards for not signing & giving a name to send a response in private, and then I tell them if they’re really opposed to what they’ve read then perhaps they should write their own story. It’s rare that I/we hear from ever again. I can’t stand guest reviewers who send rude & negative reviews without giving you an opportunity to respond. I go back into the reviews & respond through there.

    Loved the Oscar the Grouch!

I think we all feel the same way. With all of the different ways that you can sign in on FF.net now there’s no reason for them to still allow guest reviews. Personally my thoughts are Fuck them! They’re cowards! All of your stories are awesome!

I say ignore the cowards! Bc that is what thry are. Its kind of a compliment that thry spend so much time thinking about you enough to type out their childish and dumb reviews. You can always take a page out of the book of us southerners and just respond with the most polite kiss off we can ever use, “Well Bless Your Heart.” ( Thats our polite way of saying F*ck You.

I have read some really awful stuff but have never felt the need to put energy into making someone else feel bad. In fact, some I am tempted to offer help (when the grammar and word usage makes me cringe) but I even resist that because who knows why someone is writing? And if someone is using writing as a way to cope with a personal challenge – like keeping them distracted during chemo treatments or coping with the loss of a loved one, do they really need to be told they are misusing a particular word? No good can come of it so the only people who would do that are people who are trying to inflict pain – bullies (who are cowards, as many have mentioned). I am not the best at giving reviews – but when I do, it is with the mindset that someone who uses their spare time to work on something that allows me pleasure in mine! So I will say that, as someone who has read many of your stories and who loves your creativity (and appreciates that you edit for grammar – seriously, that makes me nuts to read some of those other works and cringe), if someone is finding fault, they have had to look incredibly hard and I am still convinced they didn’t actually find fault but generated someting out of their own need to belittle and bully and just be mean. You can’t do anything about mean people being mean – but I completely understand how that would get under your skin. Sorry you have had to deal with that – after all the work you put in to provide so many such lovely stories. All I can say is I hope hearing some those of us who love and appreciate what you do will make your day a little better 🙂

it does. Thanks for writing in. When I first started posting, some of the negatives did get to me–because I do put a lot of work into my writing. But I’ve become better at ignoring them–to counter negativity with “nothing.” But today I just HAD to offer a little “more.” LOL.
Thanks for you comments. I totally agree with you.

Don’t let the b@$t@rds grind you down. They’re clearly spineless cowards. And delusional to boot if they done like your work. You should feel pity for them and their sad little lives that are so pathetic that they have nothing better to do than read work they don’t like and try to tear someone else down in order to make themselves feel better. So, just close your eyes, banish them from your thoughts, and put ASkars there instead.

You must be very important to cumguzzlers of that ilk for them to take the time to spew their anal excretions your way like that. I’m sorry that happened, honey. (I recently had a reader stop reading over an insignificant fact AFTER HAVING READ 85% OF THE STORY…oh well, at least they didn’t stomp off or decide to blow their wad as “guest”…)

My thoughts on the “guest” problem? They’re jealous that you’re prettier in the emotional development, creativity, and ability department than they are. Also, they’re probably maladjusted anal pickers.

Hear, hear!!The people that send anon hate are pathetic. You don’t like a story, fine do not read it or leave valid constructive criticism.

FF.net seems particularly bad for censorship too and I have read other writers comment about getting anon comments giving out about sexual content and what not 30 or 40 chapters into a story when there was mentions of it in earlier chapters! Ridiculous. That’s what a rating system is there for and if they don’t like it perhaps they should only read rated G stories.

Please comment and tell me what you think!
