(Recommended 7/10/13)
This is a True Blood story set 50 years after Season 4. The events of Season 5 (and beyond) didn’t happen in this story’s world.
Borrowed Time by Morggys
I thoroughly enjoyed Borrowed Time. It tells about what Sookie’s future might be like if she chooses a different path than being with Eric. Two hallmarks of a great story to me are 1.) whether it makes me cry (and this one did); 2.) whether it makes me wish there was more even as it leaves me satisfied (again, this one did). This is a “subtle” story in a way; it is about the drama of choice and consequence. And there’s not a lot of action in the traditional sense; there are no villains to defeat–unless internal demons are taken into account.

I was following this lovely story, and somehow stopped receiving updates??! Thank you for reminding me! I’ll have to go back and re-read it now that it’s finished. XO

I usually wait to read something until it’s done. I broke a toe day before yesterday and was in too much pain to write, so I read this story since it was newly finished and “on my reading list.” You’re right. “Lovely” is a great word for this story.

Thanks for the great recommendation, kat! I read this all throughout today, and just finished a little while ago. Such a lovely little story! It was really quite heartwarming to read that even though 50 years had passed, the love survived and both Sookie & Eric got the time they needed in those 50 years to learn, grow, and do what they needed to do before fate made it possible for them to reconcile. Morgy’s a terrific writer & I can’t wait to read more of her work!
