jc52185: AMNESIA

(Recommended 12/19/13)

Hello!  Sorry I haven’t done one of these for a while, but I’ve been busy with classes, etc.  Now that I’m on vacation–yeah!–I have a bit more time, and I’ve been wanting to recommend this story for a while!

If you haven’t already enjoyed it, I hope you will check it out.

Amnesia by jc52185

You know that I love angst, and this story is right up my alley.  The author sets the story in the book-verse and picks up right after Sookie has been attacked by Bill in the trunk in Club Dead.  I always thought that this was a pivotal moment in Sookie’s history, and I didn’t like the way that it was resolved.  I don’t believe Sookie would have been so quickly forgiving of Bill, and neither does jc52185.  Instead, the author takes the story in a new direction.  What if Sookie shut down?  And what if Eric took it upon himself to take care of her and to help her?  What memories of his own would infiltrate his mind, even as he helped her to try to heal following her rape?  And how would Hallow’s curse become a curse to them both–throwing a wrench into both Sookie’s healing and Eric’s ability to keep his “monsters” at bay?

(There is a sequel in the works right now, and the author is steady with her posts, so I feel “safe” to recommend that too.)

OH YES! I am not particularly fond of angst but AMNESIA has such great character development, it is definitely worth it. The pay off is so much more rewarding because it takes time, steep ups and downs and eventually true personal growth in the characters. Also this story properly addresses the trauma resulting from the infamous trunk incident post-Jackson that was grossly glossed over in the books. The sequel indicates that the story will also delve into Eric’s history with Appius, also expanding a lot from anything the books revealed.

Love, love, love these stories! I second Kat’s recommendation. I was always highly bothered by CH’s brush off of Sookie’s rape by Bill. Of course, in light of her selling Eric into sexual slavery to Freyda, I guess it was just a glimmer of horrors to come. Ugh. Anyway, these stories are wonderful…..

Thanks so much for this recommendation, Kat! “Amnesia” & it’s sequel, “Love and Memories” are fantastic, and I’m predicting jc to be one of FF’s (or perhaps another blog?) up & coming HOT writers for 2014! Just brilliant writing, and the emotion conveyed? Powerful. This young woman has it all. The subject matter is not light reading; however, jc handles it with grace and dignity allowing Sookie a realistic portrayal of her reaction to being raped and subsequent trauma after Bill awakens in the trunk with her in Jackson (Club Dead, Book #3), and then delves into Book #4 with Amnesia Eric. The sequel seems to be leading toward the engagement and upcoming nuptials between QSA & King of Arkansas, Peter Threadgill, at the upcoming Rhodes summit…dundundun…and Eric dealing with his past with Appius…Let me just say that I hope we don’t meet him! Both are just stunning stories and should not be missed!! FanFiction.net!! Thanks again!

Yep I loved this one from the get-go.
Brilliant story and definitely deserving an awesome review! I love this review idea 🙂
I hope the writer has it backed up. I would hate for it to get wiped by FF cleaning fanatics
