Episode 7.9: “Love is to Die”

Hello all!

Good and bad news again!  I have to join you later.  My friends want to do a repeat of last week, but this time they are offering to feed me steak!  So I will join you for my commentary after that.  However, we will be drinking with you in spirit.

Tonight’s drinking game: I will be drinking anytime “that” look is on Bill’s face.  You know the one I mean–the constipated, “I’m doing this for you” look.

bill

Bill

Episode Summary:

Sookie retreats in confusion. Sam makes a choice. Jason exercises uncharacteristic restraint, while Eric faces a dilemma after being caught in a lie.

Item 1: Sookie confused?  NO!!!  LOL.

Item 2: I really hope Sam chooses to go with his wife and child.  If not, any remaining respect I have for his character will be gone.  (And, please, no Sam butt.)

Item 3: Jason’s restraint?  I’m guessing Hoyt’s girlfriend comes on to him and Jason says no thanks.  If so, good for him.

Item 4: I wonder if the dilemma is that Eric has to choose between Pam and Sookie.  I bet Mr. Gus realizes that Sookie is not just a usual fangbanger.  He says bring her here or I’ll kill Pam.  Sigh.  This is supposed to make the Sylvie storyline relevant.

Anyway, I’ll catch you all later.  I hope you all return to post during or after the show!

Kat

Until then, enjoy this:

If that’s the drinking game then you’ll be drinking a lot because that’s the only expression Bill has these days ( I suspect Botox so…)

Perfect picture choices.. Only 2 more episodes of Behls’ constipation face left. You should also take a drink each time Behl mentions his darkness or there’s a reference to his lost humanitah….

I shall be back with my comments when I watch it tomorrow morning (the one and only perk of being let go last week – ample catchup time on shows!)

Ah yes, the superb combo which I shall refer to as the humanipation!

Thanks, sure crap happens. It was only ever a temporary job but I was hoping I would get another 4 months at least out of it.

Temporary jobs suck because of that uncertainty. You hope they will last the length originally estimated, but you know they may not. My husband is on a temporary part time right now (which is a step up from casual which is what he was at) and has the chance to finally go to permanent part time after 2 years now. Bad part, he may not get as many hours in the permanent position as he was getting in the temporary, but at most it was going to last til December so bird in hand and all that.

I think the only people more confused than Sookie at this point is the fans – and that is just because of the nonsense the writers are trying to get us to buy and the potential they are passing up.

I’m just hoping my current thoughts on the ending are wrong.

All season on tvtag, the stickers have pretty much been sookie with only 2 others being someone different. Tonights is Bill. Part of me is hoping this means be goes to the big giant coffin in the sky. Seriously, he has to die.

In the 8th episode titled Almost Home, Bill refused to drink antidote Sarah’s blood, while Eric drinks the cure and is healed. Bill possible that he refused the cure because he does not see Sookie and him having a normal and happy life together. He is trying to save her from his darkness. Meanwhile, Bill is seen saying to someone in the preview that death is all they are and that is all they can give Sookie.

Bill does not have much time left, as the Hep V virus is accelerating in his body at a crazy speed. But, it seems that Bill is not the one who is going to die in Love is to Die, as the synopsis of the final episode, Thank You says, “Sookie weighs a future with and without Bill”.

    Meanwhile, Hoyt will remember everything!

Jessica had previously erased Hoyt memories to save him from all the crazy in Bon Temps. In the next episode he will remember the past, and memories of him and Jessica together and also Jason’s infidelity. In the promo clip released, Hoyt is seen beating Jason.

Sam will leave Bon Temps with Nicole?

Also in the episode, Sam will finally decide if he is staying in Bon Temps or saying goodbye to the place for good. Previously Nicole had made it clear that she does not want to raise her child in Bon Temps, and she warned to leave the place, with or without him.

The synopsis of the episode also talks about Eric landing himself in a big dilemma after his lie is caught. Ginger makes an appearance in this episode.

Please don’t kill Pam. Now who would turn Ginger or does Eric finally sleep with her. Brain bleach!

Can we get a list of the writers on the show so we know to never watch anything they work on again. Bucky old boy must have his head up his bum if he thinks an ending w/o Sookie and Eric HEA won’t fly. I mean I have not come across one person who liked the ending CH gave us… I need to send Bucky and HBO my wine bill so I can get through these two last shows! The people at the wine store think I have a problem every Sunday I come in for Box Wine for myself;)

I read part of an interview with Mr. Skarsgard that said he’s very happy with how they end Eric’s story in the show and he hopes the fans are, too. I have to think that means he’s not going to die. He has to know that since the vast majority are HIS fans, that we would definitely not be happy if that was the outcome.

Eric came to see Bill to try to convince him that his feeling to die is b/c of the disease and that Eric felt it, too, when he was sick. Bill told Eric about the smoke baby from his dream. Eric told him that what he’s doing is hurting Sookie and that she loves Bill. Bill told Eric that they are darkness and she is light and that’s why she’s drawn to them. He then proceeded to ask Eric to talk to Sookie and get her to accept Bill to come and see her. Eric left to go talk to her.

At least Bill is just as delusional about who/what Sookie is as she is him. Do the yokels even know *anything* about each other? Sookie is ‘light’? Pfffft…Sookie is hateful, spiteful, selfish, obsessive, self-centered, one dimensional, trashy, idiotic, vapid, self-serving, all rolled up into a faux *southern lady* moronic package. ‘She is light’..ROTFLMFAO

Ginger has been the best (intentional) comic relief all season. Poor Eric, his part this episode seemed to be “perpetually confused at the fucked up people around him.”

I agree with you. The only part I actually enjoyed of the episode were the Pam and Ginger scenes. I was scratching my head with and at Eric. Even he was mad to be acting out of character though. And Bill’s saying, “This is the last thing I’ll ever ask of you”——–if I were Eric, I would have said, “Dude, I don’t owe you anything.”

yeah, i think he’ll get cured so he can turn her. after he explains to her about the stupid “light” and “darkness” BS, she’ll say she wants darkness to be with him. She was looking at that giant grave that looked like the one Eric took Willa to. Although, I don’t know how he could possibly dig it since he can barely walk.

Yes Mr. Gus, but he doesn’t have both Pam and Sookie together, so indirectly b/c pam’s on a table with a giant stake ready to drop and they are asking Eric if Sookie knows about Sarah. He lies at first saying he didn’t see her, but as they continue to cut the ropes dropping Pam’s stake, he caves and admits the truth. Finally, Mr. Gus asks where Sookie lives, That’s where they ended with Eric tonight.

Ok, now don’t hunt me down with pitchforks ladies for what I’m about to say.

I haven’t even watched last season yet nor anything of this season BUT the more I see / read about Ginger the more I like her and kind of want her with Eric. She’s been in love with him madly since the moment she saw him. Hell, Ginger is basically a fictional version of all of us. Unlike other fickle two-faced selfish bitches named Sookie I could mention, Ginger has pretty much been faithful to Eric from day dot. She’s been glamoured to within an inch of stupidity unfortunately but otherwise, she is basically a sweet girl who has been relegated to friendzone status. I’m thinking very seriously of hunting down some Ginger / Eric fanfics after this is all said and done because right now, I hate Sookie almost as much as I hate Bella and believe me, I detest Bella with a hatred that burns hotter than a thousand suns………

OK, on this note, I’m going to pimp my new contest! It’s the “Season 7 TB Fanfic Writers Dream Team,” or simply “The Writers We’ve Chosen to fix the Finale Fuck-Up! All you have to do is choose 10 FF writers that include a Head Writer from any site (FF.net. WP, etc.) and 5 betas. Send your list to my blog – msbuffy@wordpress.com, and I’ll tabulate the choices. I’ll choose those with most votes, then take it from there. This will go from 8-18 to 8-25. Once we’ve got all the choices, those writers agreeing to participate will each write an episode (as designated by the Head Writer) for Season 7. Then I’ll post the episodes once a week on by blog. We all know these writers do a much better job than anyone Ball & Buckner hired!! I just hope that anyone chosen will agree to participate! SPREAD THE WORD, READERS!

I’m slow clapping too. But the reviewer didn’t spend enough time on the cringe-inducing Eric playing matchmaker so that Bill can “call on Sookie” after he walks through the graveyard and visits his “true love,” which isn’t Sookie. When Sookie INEVITABLY doesn’t want to let him go next week, it’s just going to be sad–sad for a character that could have been so strong. And if Bill turns around, which he INEVITABLY will, and says, “Sookeh, I love you and don’t want to let go of you ever”–I will call BULLSHIT. Nothing he’s done this season says that he loves her. NOTHING. So–at best–Bill and Sookie will end up living a pathetic lie.

Meanwhile, I hope Eric flies off into the sunset and comes to my house. If he does, I won’t spontaneously orgasm. Wait–okay I WILL. But I will recover at “vampire speed” and then make sure he’s taken care of too. LOL.

ok, just a couple more things that are bugging me…and have me asking again WHY?

They have totally and completely wasted Lafayette’s character this season. The whole season. Such a shame. He’s one of my favs and they’ve done nothing for him other than one small scene of him telling off Jessica.

So, Hoyt dumps is very cute little girlfriend b/c Jessica, a girl he doesn’t know anymore, says they were a couple and then jumps into the sack with her immediately. WHAT?

Wow, this episode was absolutely brutal. Bill is an absolute coward and how self absorbed is he that Sookie will never be free/fall in love with anyone else as long as he walks the earth. I love how Eric told him to get over himself like he was speaking for 99% of the audience but hated that Bill asked him to speak to Sookie for him.
Why was he asking him to ask Sookie to let him call on her It’s not like Bill has never shown up to Sookies’ unannounced before?? Remember last season terrorising her in her own home? Nope?! Also he admitted to almost raping her – finally! Yet the audience is supposed to believe this is tru wuv, barf.
As for Jessica – I thought Bill already released her so that scene made no sense to me at all except to throw more cello muzak at us. Her and Hoyt -zzzs, been there done that.
Poor Eric he tells Sookie that he cares for her and nada. It’s all Behl, Behl , Behl. If she took her head out of her ass for a minute or was cleansed of his poisonous blood she’d realise that she has an unhealthy obsession with him and that he is no good for him and that she should let him die. It really annoyed me how Eric was used as a relationship counsellor in this episode. It’s obvious he still loves Sookie and to have him do that for Sookie and Bill proves that. His love is selfless unlike Bills’. His face when he dropped Sookie home and said the phone was ringing along with his Goodnight Miss Stackhouse – heartbreaking.
I also think it was crappy of the writers to make it look like there were some Eric/Sookie moments in the episode when all the supposed heart to heart was all about Bill. Why hasn’t the show been renamed True Behl. It infuriates me that Sookie who was the main protagonist and character we were meant to view this world through has been reduced to nothing more than a prize <i miraculefor Bill and for him to insinuate that it’s her faeness that draws him to her along with Eric is insulting. Eric didn’t drink from Sookie everytime they had sex unlike Bill who used her as his own personal juicebox. If it’s her faeness that draws Bill to her then he doesn’t really love her and no amount of love yous exchanged as seen in promo for the finale changes that.
Poor Ginger. She finally gets her man and she finishes within seconds.
And finally – Pam was captured and held hostage again? Bored now. Can’t believe how little I am looking forward to the finale next week and am expecting it to exceed Dexter and HIMYM in awfulness.

Totally agree about Bill being so full of himself! Wow. He’s got a hero complex to match his martyr one now.

One of the lowest show moments (no one of the lowest SERIES moments): making Eric Bill’s errand boy–regarding the WOMAN ERIC LOVES! When Eric “chose” Pam over Sookie, I said, “GOOD!” She chooses Bill over him all the time!

When Eric didn’t tell Bill that his reason for falling in love for Sookie WASN’T b/c she was Fae, I just cringed. You are right: Bill’s reason for being with Sookie may very well be b/c she’s Fae. And he did always take her blood and give her blood. But even w/ amnesia, Eric didn’t take her blood during sex until Sookie asked. In fact, did he EVER take her blood during sex? It was NEVER shown if he did. To me, this is so important. Eric loves Sookie for a lot more than her blood. He’s drunk her blood four times, if I remember right: 1. To entrap Russell; 2. To heal after being in the sun w/ Russell; 3. in the cubby after Sookie offers it (not his idea) and this leads to their bonding; 4. after almost burning at the stake w/ Bill. Sookie’s had Eric’s blood twice: 1. in Dallas (yes he tricked her AFTER saving her life. Note: Bill tricked her after having people almost TAKE HER LIFE); 2. In the cubby when Eric offered her himself and gave her the choice. He said, “We will be one.” And he’s never treated her any differently than that. Sigh.

See I took that scene as Eric doing everything for Sookie, although I’m not sure that’s how the writers wanted it I betaken but I have long stopped trying to figure out what they are thinking. At this point he knows that for whatever bizarre reason Sookie loves Bill. But Eric loves her enough to try an help to make her happy. I didn’t see him as doing anything for Bill; it was all for Sookie.

Also, though it would have been great for him to jump up and say Bills nonsense about the light was not why he loved Sookie, he didn’t have to explain his feelings to Bill. He doesn’t need the explanation.

I don’t know. As frustrating and annoying as the scene was, that’s how I saw it.

Yeah, I can see that too, and I agree that what Eric did was out of love for Sookie. But I soooo wanted him to point out Bill’s bullshit. I saw that Bill basically implied that they’d been attraction to Sookie b/c of her “light.” And that she wanted them b/c they were vampires (which was weird). Um–newsflash, Bill, she wanted you for two reasons: 1. your blood in her; 2. she couldn’t hear your thoughts.

You’re right in that Eric doesn’t have to explain to Bill, but I soo would have loved to see that. In fact, I’m thinking of writing a little one shot where he does just that. 😉

Well yes, having him out Bill where he belongs certainly would have been fun. Though I am sure what you come up with will be much better than what we would have gotten – and we won’t have to watch the constipation face when reading it.

LOL. Nope, you’ll have to imagine it–if you dare. LOL.
BTW–Bill drinking games are the best. I swear, every time he’s on the screen, drinking ensues.

Oh I can guarantee if I’m reading a story of yours dealing with this little plot it will not be Bill’s constipated face I will be thinking of. No it would be a smirking Eric’s face as he explains to Bill just why he loves her that I imagine.

Drinking when Bill comes on screen is a must. The only way to get through the scene. I’m gonna have to restock.

    making Eric Bill’s errand boy
Exactly. It was heartbreaking to watch. He looked devastated when he dropped Sookie home and said that Bill is calling you. I was half expecting him to walk into Fangtasia with bloody tears.
    “We will be one”
I HATE how that was swept under the carpet so quickly. It was such a beautiful scene and Sookie dismissed it so easily once Bills’ poisonous blood was back in her body.
And I’m just going to copy and paste some comments I made on Tumblr too :
Bills’ Billshit convinces Eric it’s the right thing to do.He is a master manipulator after all and through the nonsense about setting her free he made sure that Eric wouldn’t approach Sookie in a romantic fashion after he meets the true death (which I doubt will happen since Bill is the cockroach of True Blood)
As for the finale I was hoping that Niall would help cleanse Sookie of all Bills’ blood to lift the fog from her eyes (and mind) but instead we are going to be subjected to declarations of love because Behl is too much of a stubborn asshole to let Sookie go. If he truly loved her he would.

Already anticipating what this week’s game is for the finale or should I say the finally?!
