Progress Report for The Engine

Hello all,

Well–first–apologies.  There is not going to be a chapter this week.  I had one ready, but as I’m drafting the events after that chapter, I’m realizing that some things might need to change.  I’ve been trying to draft the battle stuff, but it’s a multiple-chapter, many many many characters, many many story-lines converging, cray-cray beast!  Not quite as crazy as Appius, but still . . . .  It’s taking me a while to get things to work.  So that means I’m going to ask for a little bit of time–and your patience–as I try to pull it all together.  I’m thinking that I might need about a month–given the amount of time (and non-time) that I’ll have to devote to “fun” writing in the upcoming weeks.  And, after I’m done, then Kleannhouse will need time to help me polish.  My plan is to finish this story completely before I start posting again; that way, I can post two chapters a week.

I’m sorry for this hiatus.  But I’m hoping it will be stortish.

I love to write FanFiction!

  1. Take all the time you need. I hope you get to relax and enjoy life as well. We will be here when you’re ready to start posting again. HUGS!!

  2. We’ll wait patiently. We’re always happy to get anything you have to offer and waiting a short while to get the best possible outcome (that you’re happy with too) is always worthwhile ❤️🙂

  3. This update made me laugh – “cray cray beast”. Take all the time you need. You’re so communicative about what’s going on with all your stories. It’s greatly appreciated.

  4. You write, we read, thanks for letting us know what’s going on. We have been pretty spoiled so you deserve to make sure it is the way you want ! thank you!

  5. Will patiently wait for an email notification from you. Thank you for letting us know and for keeping this fandom alive.

  6. Thanks so much for letting us know. I love this story and always look forward to the updates. Take whatever time you need- I’m sure it’s gonna be a wild ride! Take care.

  7. Big hugs.
Hope everything is ok, and going well.
Just checking in to let you know that you are not forgotten. Be safe. Be happy 🙂
See you when you get back ❤️

  8. Just got caught up on all the chapters on The Engine! I hope things are going well on your end! We all will be patiently waiting for the resulting chapters of your hiatus! 🙂

  9. Hey Kat – I’m just realizing that it’s been two months since you last posted. 😢

I hope all is well and that you are hunkered down and safe during al this craziness!

It doesn’t have to be a chapter, but can drop a quick post just to say if you’re okay?

    1. I’m good. Thanks for asking. Right now, I’m up to my eyebrows learning how to transition the classes I teach to the online realm, but I am blessed to still have a job and toilet paper. 😉 I wish you well and hope that you are safe. Once things settle down and the “new normal” is in effect, I hope to have more time to write. I’d love to be able to begin posting regularly again–just to help give people relief from the craziness.

      1. Oh good! I’m glad to hear you’re okay. We’re staying safe here and learning how to have my kids learn online! Take care and I look forward to reading more whenever you’re ready.

  10. Hi. Just wanted to say I miss the stories. All of them. Especially since I have some time to catch up with my reading. Hope all is well. Look forward to more once you are able.
    Stay well

  11. Hi. I know you had a busy semester, and I feel your pain, since I was in the same boat. It was quite a learning curve having to deal with teaching/working online. I hope you have slowed down a bit now. Sometimes you just have to take a mental health break. Anyway, hope to see you back posting soon. Take care and stay safe.

  12. Kat,
You doing okay? It has been a rough spring for all you educators {I hate kids-More power and mad props to you lot!} Haven’t heard from you since March, which is unusual for you, and just wanted to say, I hope things are leveling out in your world.
May the muses keep your life interesting in only the best of ways!

  13. I hope you’re doing well, this has been the longest the fandom has gone w/out an update and general timeline for when you expect to return.

  14. Dear Kat,
I just reread Not Without Action and I wanted you to know that I still enjoy your writing – your stories are certainly comfort food during this pandemic. I hope you are safe and well.
